2011 SCCBL Preview

Published on October 26, 2010 by   ·   3 Comments

As summer collegiate baseball teams all across the country are in the off season, the SCCBL is in the midst of making great strides to improve the overall league.  On Tuesday, October 19th league general managers and officials met in Riverside, California to discuss the upcoming 2011 season.  From that meeting, significant improvements were discussed and put into motion. The major changes come in the form of adding three new teams with general managers and coaches all with close collegiate ties.

The new teams are the So Cal Athletics run by Oscar Herrera, an assistant coach at Rio Hondo College, a perennial powerhouse in Southern California Junior College baseball.  The Azusa Pirates, run by Sean McCorry and managed by Andrew Evans, both of whom come from Azusa Pacific University, one of the strongest NAIA baseball programs on the entire west coast.  The final newcomer to the SCCBL are the Inland Empire Aces, run by Mike Gonzalez who is the head coach for the upstart Pacifica College baseball program.  Mike has been a collegiate coach in Southern California for over a decade.

With the addition of the three new teams, the SCCBL is in a great position to keep growing and strengthening itself to provide the highest level of summer collegiate baseball for players, teams, and communities in the talent rich Southern California area.

We invite all coaches, players and fans to reach out to our league and become involved with the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League.
